As a result of a recent meeting between Scottish Cycling and British Cycling it has been agreed to work towards combining the respective Scottish Cycling Mountain Bike Leader Award and British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership schemes to create a single suite of Mountain Bike Leadership Awards.

In order to achieve this a Strategic Group with representation from each of the Home Countries will be established and will oversee a Technical Working Group who will develop the content of the new Mountain Bike Leadership Awards in line with the latest industry standards. In the meantime MBLA and British Cycling will continue to deliver their existing schemes, whilst also recognising each other’s awards.

Professor Richard Davison who has been appointed to chair the Technical Working Group said: “This is an exciting development combining the long established experience of Scottish Cycling’s MBLA scheme with British Cycling’s coaching and education expertise to create a unified scheme which will provide an updated range of high quality leadership qualifications tailored to the needs of the end user.”
