Event: 21 August 2011

The 2011 Hope Cross Country Series continues on the 21 August at the Lee Quarry course in Rossendale, Lancashire.

Event promoters Brownbacks not only organise some of the best racing around it also aims to support the local community. The volunteer team depends on the support of many unsung heroes to help deliver the races. To recognise this support Brownbacks aim to pass on as much money as possible to the local community only retaining enough to ensure the following year's race series.

A cause close to Brownback's heart and an organisation that every mountain biker may need to call on one day is Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. The team respond to numerous call outs involving mountain bikers often within the Lee Quarry our venue for the racing, this year Brownbacks donated £1000 to the cause.

As well as mountain bikers the promoters also support Urban Outreach in Bolton, a charity that reaches out to the most vulnerable and isolated within the Bolton area with practical assistance and help.

Always eager to increase participation in cycling Brownbacks have also setup an innovative coaching initiative to encourage new riders of all ages into the sport and aim to develop riders into coaches to further expand on this in 2012. Therefore they are looking for skilled and experienced mountain bikers who want to be coaches and encourage anyone interested to get in touch.

In addition the generous support from main sponsors Hope Technology, Leisure Lakes, Big Bear Bikes, Cookson's Cycles, Polaris Bikewear, Buff, SRAM, DHP11 as well as the assistance of Lancashire CC and Rossendale BC helps to make sure the action goes ahead.

This year they aim to raise over £3000 from their events. Can't race? Over 30 volunteers are needed for each event to ensure everyone is safe and the racing runs smoothly. To find out more visit www.brownbacksracing.co.uk.
