UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Round 5 Results

Tracy Moseley held her lead in the 2011 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill with a third position on Windham Mountain, while Rachel Atherton took the individual race win at round five marking another successful weekend for British downhilling on the international stage.
For Atherton, the race win marked a return to the top step of the podium; her first time since Windham almost one year ago. In the interim, the 2008 World Champion has been returning from two shoulder injuries, opting to skip the first round of the 2011 World Cup to fully recover and safeguard a future in the sport.
Tracy Moseley took no such approach; straight from a win in the 2010 World Championships, to winning the opening two rounds of the World Cup and taking the leader's jersey. Third in Windham was enough to retain this into the final rounds of the Series and leave Moseley on course to pick up her first World Cup Overall since 2006.
ELITE MEN
Steve Peat made a huge return to the World Cup Downhill podium - almost dethroning seemingly unstoppable Aaron Gwin. Peat - who had a huge crash while leading the Windham World Cup last year didn't let the course haunt him; instead coming back to post a time that was fastest - until Gwin took to the hill.
In a season that hasn't gone Peat's way due to injury, the man with the most World Cup wins and podiums in World Cup history proved why he's still a hero of the sport.
One weekend on from Mont St. Anne, when questions were being asked over a new world order, Peat was the only experienced campaigner to bounce back and crack the top five.
2010 World Cup Winner Gee Atherton and long-term rival Greg Minnaar both finished outside of the top ten, their names replaced by products of the '90s Brook Macdonald, Troy Brosnan and Danny Hart.
Hart finished ninth after a career-best run of results, including second at Fort William and fourth at Mont St. Anne.
The weekend's results leave four British riders in the top ten series standings - Gee Atherton third, Danny Hart fourth, Steve Peat seventh and Josh Bryceland eighth.
The World Cup resumes on August 6 at La Bresse.
