The 2019 HSBC UK | National Mountain Bike Cross-country Championships will take place on Cannock Chase, British Cycling is pleased to confirm.

The Staffordshire venue – which will also stage the mountain biking event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – will host the national championships over the weekend of July 20 and 21.

This will be the second time in three years that Cannock Chase has hosted the championships – Grant Ferguson and Annie Last won the elite titles there back in 2017.

Matt Williams, of event organiser Run and Ride, said:

“We’re delighted to again be hosting the showpiece of the cross-country season. Cannock Chase is enduringly popular with mountain bikers at both elite and recreational level, and we’re looking forward to the country’s best riders showcasing the very best of our surroundings in July.”

Annie Last wins National MTB Championships 2018.

British Cycling has also confirmed dates and venues for the 2019 HSBC UK | National Cross-Country Series, which will once again comprise five rounds and will be coordinated by British Cycling in partnership with regional organisers.

The series will commence in March at Sherwood Pines (Nottinghamshire), before heading south in April to the 2012 Olympic venue at Hadleigh Park. Dalby Forest in Yorkshire will then host round 3 in May.

The final two rounds are hosted at venues new to the national series. Round 4, in early June, takes place at Allt Ddel Woods near Aberystwyth, a former Welsh Championship venue, whilst the final round, scheduled for the end of June, is organised by the Mud, Sweat and Gears team at Thickthorn, near Norwich.
