The British Cycling MTB Four Cross Series made its final stop of the 2014 season at Leamington Spa, Warwickshire on Sunday 21 September.

Scott Beaumont took the win in the final round of the series to seal the elite men's series while third place for Cara Murray was enough to secure the elite women's crown.

Beaumont's win came in spite of recovering from a broken coccyx sustained at the final 4X ProTour round in Bulgaria a month ago, taking victory in the the final ahead of Alex Metcalfe, Oliver Cutmore and Duncan Ferris.

Beaumont had gate one and got the holeshot, holding off the challenge of Metcalfe and Cutmore to take the final round and with it the overall series title.

World champion Katy Curd was imperious in the women’s event, leading from the gate to take the final ahead of British champion Liz Fowler, series leader Cara Murray and young pretender Megan Wherry.

But third place was good enough for Murray to seal the series title, who has been under intense pressure from Fowler for much of the series.
