Go-Ride Talent Development - The Rider Journey

A new Olympic cycle has started and over 60 per cent of riders on the road to Rio in 2016 are young adults who have graduated from Go-Ride clubs. Those riders include current and prospective Olympic champions such as Laura Trott, Jason Kenny and Lucy Garner. The Go-Ride programme started in 2004 and Go-Ride clubs across the UK are providing support throughout the entire rider journey.

A rider’s journey through the sport of cycling rarely starts and finishes at the same place. However, the Go-Ride programme supports riders and volunteers along the way, to make sure that the trip is a happy one – whether that’s taking part in club sessions, Regional Schools of Racing, volunteering at regional races or representing the country on the podium.

The Rider Journey diagram is a really useful tool in highlighting opportunities for the club and its riders. If you would like a copy of the pathway or more information, please contact the Go-Ride team: go-ride@britishcycling.org.uk or click this link to download the pdf.
