Neah's Profile

A relative latecomer to the world of full-time professional cycling, Evans has collated Olympic, world and European medals since dedicating herself to the sport in 2017.

Having claimed five medals at the 2017 National Track Championships while still working full-time as a vet, the Scottish rider made a spectacular Commonwealth Games debut the following year in the Gold Coast. On the track, she won silver and bronze in the scratch and points races, while she managed to finish eighth in the road race and time-trial.

Gaining a place on the Great Britain Cycling Team saw Evans become a regular in the team pursuit quartet, and she claimed her first major title in her home city of Glasgow at the 2018 UEC European Track Championships with a team pursuit gold. She went on to add a further European title in 2019, followed in 2020 by two more gold medals by winning both the team and individual pursuit.

Evans added a team pursuit silver to her accolades at the 2020 UCI World Championships in Berlin and was selected to go to her first Olympic Games in 2021 as part of the five-strong pursuit team. A brilliant battle with the Germans saw the Great Britain Cycling Team take silver in the final at the postponed 2020 Games.

But it was the 2022 season where Evans was in the form of her life, kicking off with three national titles in the individual pursuit and points race and in the Madison alongside Dame Laura Kenny. Another Commonwealth Games saw Evans shine in Birmingham, claiming two track medals with a points race silver and individual pursuit bronze, and also a surprise silver in the women’s road race.

The 2022 UCI Track World Championships was Evans’ best yet, claiming her first world title in the points race, beating Julie Leth and Jennifer Valente. With the Great Britain Cycling Team, she also claimed another world team pursuit silver, narrowly losing the title to Italy.

2023 saw Evans claim early season success winning five medals across two Track Nations Cup rounds in Jakarta and Milton as well as taking her sixth European title with a team pursuit gold. A home world championships in Glasgow had Evans gunning for another world title, and she took the Madison gold medal alongside Elinor Barker.

Evans started the Olympic year positively, taking a silver medal in the women’s team pursuit and silver in the omnium at the 2024 UEC Track Elite European Championships in Apeldoorn.

Evans comes from a sporting background with her mother Ros having represented Great Britain at the World Orienteering Championships and at the 1984 Winter Olympics where she took part in the cross-country skiing event. As a youngster, she was an under-23 national champion in hill running before injuries forced her to change sports.
