Jon's Profile

About Jon

Southampton-born Jon progressed from British Cycling’s Olympic Development Programme, where his successes include a silver in the omnium at the UCI Junior Track World Championship level and a third-place overall at the Junior Paris-Roubaix, and on to the Olympic Academy Programme in October 2012.

He was selected to ride at his first world cup in Glasgow soon after he joined the Academy, where he represented Great Britiain in the omnium event finishing in an impressive fifth on his debut.

Jon was then selected to ride the omnium at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Belarus, where the developing rider finished in eighth place against some tough world-class competition.

In April 2013, Jon progressed onto the podium endurance programme and made selection for the Team Pursuit squad for the second round of the UCI Track World Cup in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Jon, along with Owain Doull, Steve Burke and Sam Harrison, won the bronze medal after comfortably catching New Zealand in the bronze medal ride. He unfortunately missed the 2014 Commonwealth Games due to injury but in October 2014, Jon became European team pursuit champion and he also scooped the silver medal in the omnium event.

At the opening round of the UCI Track World Cup series in Mexico, Jon formed part of the silver medal winning team pursuit squad.

In October 2015, Jon retained his European team pursuit title in Grenchen, beating hosts Switzerland in the final alongside Sir Bradley Wiggins, Andy Tennant and Owain Doull. He followed that up with a gutsy performance to win bronze in the omnium.

In March 2016, Jon was crowned as the world champion in the points race, winning rainbow stripes for the first time in his career and also formed part of the silver medal winning team pursuit squad.
