In June 2014, Ferguson was selected to represent Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he finished in fifth place in the men's cross-country race at Cathkin Braes Country Park.

In 2015, Grant won the silver medal in the under-23 race at the 2015 UEC Mountain Bike Cross-country championships and swiftly followed this up with a win at the World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy.
