- Following on from May's early season Sharpener sportive, the Haddenham Howler is a challenging sportive with a difference. Both routes loop back past the start point in the beautiful Buckinghamshire Village of Haddenham so that riders can step off if they’ve had enough after the 50 miles route or carry on for the full 80 if they need to ‘stretch out’ a little.
Whiteleaf Hill, Pink Hill, Bledlow Ridge, Haw Lane, Walters Ash, Naphill, Hughenden Valley are just some of the highlights of the first 50 – the short route does not equate to the ‘easy’ option!
Climbing aside for a minute, both routes lead riders across the stunning countryside of Aylesbury Vale onto the Chiltern Hills and back again via some very quiet back roads and beautiful scenery.
Whether you’re riding the 80 or the 50, you are in for a great ride. One that you’ll want to come back to.
Registration opens 7:45am - Departing from 8:30am - Last rider away by 9:00am

Howler Route Published
It’s September and nearing the end of the sportive season, and you’re feeling lean and great. So come and enjoy a late season ride with us in tour of Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns.
You don’t have to do the full 80 mile sportive, and could opt to do the first 50 mile loop of the route which will bring you right back to the start point.
We were thinking that this may also come in handy for those are new to riding sportive distances, and maybe some others who might have bitten off more than they could chew on the day! There can be no denying that the Howler is a challenge, take a look at the elevation profile detailing the 4,750ft of total climbing.
Whiteleaf Hill, Pink Hill, Bledlow Ridge, Haw Lane, Walters Ash, Naphill, Hughenden Valley are just some of the highlights of the first 50 – but watch out for ‘Leather Lane’ a little known ‘gem’ which we have included for you.
The following links to blogger sites use Whiteleaf Hill as a reference point – 22% of short sharp fun.http://bit.ly/12hgUaC
Climbing aside, we’ve routed the event through some beautiful countryside and the quietest of back roads to give you a cracking Sunday morning ride out
