Info for Riders

The event will be a Mini-DH featuring a course with technical trail features which will be ridden by young, competent mountain bikers.

Entries will be provided on a first-come-first served basis open through the British Cycling website.

There will be a maximum of 99 entries for the race.

Entries will open in March and will close on 3rd June 2025.

Here are some more frequently asked questions:

How do the age groups work? The age groups are grouped by the year each child is born in. For example, the under 10 race is only for kids born in 2015 or 2016 and the under 12 race is for 2013 or 2014, this logic follows for u14 and u16 races.

Minimum age to enter? The minimum age for entry is kids who are born in 2016.

What trail will the event use? The event will run on one of the new red graded trails that were built as part of the Glentress Masterplan.

Is there uplift? No, it will just be a push/ride up for the kids (about 15 minutes for the event organisers - suspect the kids will be quicker :) )

What is the event format? There will be the opportunity for a course walk for participants. It is compulsory for riders to practice the course in advance of their 2 timed race runs. Only if the weather doesn’t play ball will this be changed at the discretion of the commissaire. Full timetable will be issued in a rider briefing in advance.

Is there jumps on the course? Yes, the course has mandatory jumps however these are all rollable and there are no gaps or drops. We would recommend kids get familiar (but don't need to be an expert) with jumps before entering.

What body protection is required? Full face helmets, knee pads, and gloves will be mandatory. Other body protection is optional.
