About the Event

Info for Riders

Yorkshire Black Diamond Sportive

This year we have moved to Elsecar on the edge of Barnsley and Rotherham with its rich Industrial and Mining heritage and so close to the amazing Wentworth Woodhouse.

Therefore, the route is new which makes it suitable for previous entrants and newbies to the sportive. Further the proximity of the route to the final National Road Series ‘Wentworth Woodhouse Grand Prix’ means you will ride several of the roads the professionals will!

The route with be available as a GPX file, that will be provided in the weeks before the event but will also be available on Komoot to download.

So, it's essential to keep an eye out on our social media and website: www.barnsleyroadclub.co.uk

The Sportive is unsupported with no ‘official’ feed stations, hence the 1990’s night club entry fee (think Japanese Whispers, Adam & Eve, Bachus and Josephines). But we do care and have listened to feedback and so there will be a ‘Broom Wagon’ in case someone feels they cannot complete physically or mechanically.

Again, a success of last year was the beer waiting at the Finish Line, this year it will be procured from Maison du Biere and our friends at Nailmaker Brewery Co. Again listening to feedback we will have non-alcoholic beer this year.

Riders will be released in smaller groups from 9am, with the event HQ being open from 8am for sign on. (Event HQ Sign On: Elsecar Parish Hall, Church Street, Elsecar Barnsley S74 8HS.) On return meet up to sign out and refreshments at Maison du Biere (Sign Out Maisondu Biere Elsecar Heritage Centre Wath Road, Elsecar Barnsley S74 8HJ.
