This year's Welsh Cross Country Mountain Bike Series Round 4 will take place on Sunday, 6th July , at One Giant Leap, hosted by the Fibrax Fenwick's Wrexham Cycling Club, supported by Beicio Cymru. 

One Giant Leap XCO course

The OGL course features a mix of steep climbs, technical descents, and flowy singletrack sections. It is designed to test a rider’s endurance, power, handling skills, and mental focus. The terrain alternates between demanding uphill stretches and thrilling downhills, with plenty of obstacles that require precise technical handling. 

We are working hard with the landowner to offer a modified course for this year’s event, to offer plenty of variation and to challenge riders of all abilities.

To qualify for the overall series you must:

• Start 3 out of 5 Rounds
• Have either volunteered or provided a volunteer at a minimum of 1 event of the series

Team Competition

This year we will be running a team competition!

Open to all riders in the Under 14 and older categories for the title of Team Champions (Prize may or may not be given, it will be a surprise!) 

The best four riders from each club will score. This will make the competition far more open rather than limiting it to the clubs with the best attendance. However, there is a small catch: For four riders to score, at least two must be female (and, for equal opportunities, at least two must be male/open category). 

To be eligible someone from your team must also have volunteered at least one event in the series.

With races for U8s through to Adults, including Fun categories for beginners/novices, this promises to be a fantastic fourth round of the Welsh MTB XC Series 2025 on what is a new exciting course in the at One Giant Leap

Gridding for round one will be at the official’s discretion but will consider athlete rankings and previous performances.

Gridding for round two onwards will be based on overall series performances, followed by athlete rankings and previous performances, at the officials discretion.

The series will be scored according to the following:

-         100 points for a win;

-         98 points for second;

-         96 points for third;

-         And so on, descending by two points to the last placed finisher.

In the event of a tie in the final series scores, the winner will be determined by the highest number of first place finishes, then the highest number of second place finishes, and so on.

Timing chips must be returned along with your number board after the race. Failure to do so will incur a fee of £60 to replace the timing chip.

Individual event prizes and overall series winner prizes will be awarded for U10 and above categories.

Parents of U8’s are NOT allowed to follow their children racing on the course and must remain at the side of the course or at the finish area.

Anyone can enter no matter what their age, ability or bike. Provided they have a helmet, and their bike is in good working order. There is a category for everyone and separate races for younger riders. Podium/prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category.

Events are organised by local cycling clubs and take place across Wales at weekends throughout March to July. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and included courses that are well-planned and safe.

The closing date will be Wednesday 11:55pm on 2nd July 2025.

This year there will be no entry on the line: online entry only. The closing date for entries will be 23:55 on Wednesday, 2nd July.  

This year the under 8's will include riders that are 5, 6 & 7 years of age on 31st December 2024 (riders born in years 2017/18/19)

Under 10 (for riders born in years 2015/16)

Under 12 (for riders born in years 2013/14)

Although there is no seperate Under 6 races, those riders born in 2019 are able to enter the U8 race and will be awarded U6 Medals.
