Event Overview

Regional A MTB XCO including EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 - This means double points for a Regional A = 120 points in each category, Elite, Expert, Sport, V40, V50, V60 Men and Women

Your Beastway crew has specially requested this combined Regional Championships status event and we’ve done it to help riders get gridding slots at National level events. All are welcome, points are doubled in each category, and in-region riders can snag a medal for 1-2-3 in u14, u16, Junior, Senior, V40, V50 & V60. We’ll have podiums for the full race first, any support race next and the regional podium after.

Winner gets 120 ranking points, down to 22 points for 20th place at this Regional A Category Regional Championship XCO race.

Full supporting races for u12 and u10 riders. Shorter race options for novice women and veteran riders.
Entries from outside the regions are welcome
We also offer double Beastway points on this opening round of the 31st series.

Separate Women-only race with shorter support race

Race durations and course length 4-6km are in accord with the regulations for XCO races. The course will have plenty of elevation change and will be challenging to ride on proven course features.

The dedicated site has the most wonderful pavilion building with views over Central London’s skyline. Warm changing rooms with showers and lockers, a café and clubroom with WiFi. Ample parking, or train and Elizabeth Line at Goodmayes, just 20mins ride away.

More about Beastway
This year is the end of an era and these E & SE Regional Championships will be the only Beastway this season.

Under-12 and youth racing is a focus for us and their short course format is proven to be great at bringing riders up properly.

We also organise Summer Cross, a series of four cyclocross races in July this year at Herne Hill.

All our races are for bikes with human power only.

Our summer is complete with organising the super-popular Tour of the Cornfields (Sunday 1 September) a full 100k loop with plenty of wide skies and a great cake stop to make for a wonderful day out on your bike, whether it’s gravel, cross or MTB.

All of our events are run by volunteers just like us. We’re always on the look out for more people to help us and who are welcome to learn about organising bike events. Email us at beastway'at'btinternet.com if you can help

About the Event

Info for Riders

**Revised Date** All riders are welcome to these EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, whether you reside in SouthEast or Eastern Region, or elsewhere. Your home postcode will qualify you for Championships entry, whilst your finishing position in category will bring ranking points from 120 for the category winner, down to 22 for 20th. Those eligible for Regional Championships podiums will get a medal.

This event has been rescheduled from 24 March, as ground conditions would not then produce a suitable course. Available ranking points will be used to deal with gridding where applicable, whilst the double points on offer from this race could help with your season tally for national-level events. BC Regional Champion category medals.

The course will be 4–6km In length with a lap time 16-21mins as per the regulations for XCO races. Technical features are relatively tame compared to National-level races but do require skill. It's the elevation changes and turns taken at speed around natural features that provide the main challenge of a course at Hog Hill. And there’s always something new.

Pits will be double-sided and in a place that gives two even halves to the lap. The pits will be further divided to separate ‘self-serve’ riders from the pit-crew area. There is a water-supply on site.

There will be a jetwash service. Bring £1.

Please leave your shoes and bike outside the pavilion if you’re muddy. Peel off muddy kit into a bag before going in to take a shower.
Teas, cakes and savoury snacks on sale in the café in a spacious clubroom. Please use the changing rooms.

Veteran age riders can choose whether to ride the full championship distance or start later for a non-ranking place.

Please support the Women-Only race. All welcome, with a support event provided for those wanting a shorter race to take part.

You'll receive an email confirming entry and more info nearer the race so update your BC profile if needed.

Let's all have a great day's racing
