Byrne victorious at Salt Ayre Day of Racing

Posted 02/06/2014 - Geoff Newcombe

Report: Snowdon Sports

Dillon Byrne (Champion System) took a sprint win in the elite race at a highly successful Day of Racing at the Salt Ayre circuit in Lancaster on Saturday.

The 23-year-old from Blackpool edged ahead of his rivals at the end of the 30-mile race, which was run off in bright sunshine and made for an excellent day of racing throughout the categories.

He pushed Ben Greenwood (Leslie Bike Shop) into second spot, while James Gullen (Velosure-Giordana) was third.

Michael Wilson (Mercury Coaching) won the fourth cat race, with Rebecca Rimmington (Merlin RT) taking victory in the women’s category.

The event incorporated a round of the National Paracycling Circuit Series, and the winner in that race was Chris Madden (St Ives CC), the 48-year-old beating Alan Cook (Hand Cycling UK) and Alistair Corps-Bell (Hand Cycling UK) into second and third respectively.
