Taking advantage of punctures for two of his leading rivals, Michael Butler (Activ Cycles Folkestone) secured his second London League victory of the season on an ‘old school’ course at Frylands Wood last used some 15 to 20 years ago.
Series leader Matt Holmes (Arctic Premier RT) punctured twice to drop away for the leading group, leaving Jack Finch (PMR@Toachim House) to set the tempo for the majority of the race before he too punctured which saw 22-year-old Butler, from Dover, take over at the front with two laps to go on a testing, technical course which became more difficult in the rain as the day went on.
Victory consolidated Butler’s overall second place, while Finch recovered to take second on the day ahead of Dan Drake (VC Deal).
Junior Joe Sutton (PMR@Toachim House) led the field home in the race for juniors and veterans ahead of Mark Smith, who headed a clean sweep of the top three places for Crawley Wheelers in a keenly-contested tussle for the over-40 honours.
George Finch (PMR@Toachim House) came out on top in the youth race, taking over the lead when Martin Blackman (Sutton CC) suffered a wheel problem.
