Having finished second in the previous three rounds, Paul Lloyd (BC Private Member) stepped up to win the penultimate round of the Banjo Cycles Winter Floodlit League in Swindon and make sure that the overall outcome of the series went down to the wire.

The 37-year-old, from Grove in Oxfordshire, made the most of the absence of series leader Crispin Doyle (Hargroves Cycles RT) to take the night’s honours ahead of leading veteran Mike Simpson (GS Henley) with the promoting club’s Peter Kench in third.

In the women’s race, 43-year-old Claire Smith (Cotswold Velorijden) continued her domination with her third win from four races. Andover Wheelers teenager Cameron Thompson finished first in the junior category.
