Adam King (Cardiff JIF) made it three wins out of three in the Welsh League, attacking his rivals before riding to a solo victory in Hereford.

The Welsh League moved over the border into Herefordshire for round three and yet another sunny day met riders.

King was pushed all the way by Ryan Bevis (NFTO) who was only distanced in the closing stages. Like Bevis many riders chose mountain bikes for the bumpy Foxley Estate but cyclo-cross bikes had the advantage, particularly on the start/finish road.

Behind Bevis, Ian Jeremiah, Matthew Thompson and Wiggle's Ben Simmons formed the chasing group.

Simmons finally beat veteran Jeremiah to the line and Thompson was overhauled by Phil Morris (Dambusters) with two laps to go.

King said: “It was a hard race on a bumpy forestry course and I was joined by Ryan Bevis for a lot of the race until he made a small mistake and I attacked for there.

“I will be targeting a few of the National Trophy series and look forward to riding at Abergavenny next week.

“It is my home round so one that I would quite like to do well in with family and friends coming along to watch me race.”

In the junior category round one winner Alister Williams (Abergavenny RC) headed ex-teammate Sam Beckingsale (Gateway Racing) until the final lap.

Beckingsale always had Williams in his sight and steadily closed on him to take the junior prize.

Contessa/Scott rider Melanie Alexander took a comfortable win in the women's race and Abergavenny RC's Teifion Best was a convincing winner in the youth race.
