In an exciting race Stewart Wearmouth (MTS) won from James Thompson (Langsett Cycles RT) and Colin Ash (Blackhawk Bikes). After a fast opening lap these three riders started to pull away from the field. Wearmouth lead for most of the race where he continued to make breaks from Thompson and Ash. Each time he appeared to take a winning lead the two chasers would pull it back. On the final lap Wearmouth once again had a considerable lead but Thompson and Ash worked hard to reduce it. However, Wearmouth had enough of a lead to hold on with Thompson finishing second and Ash not far back in third.

Vets, Junior & Women

A group of five riders made the early pace Juniors Matthew Worton (Blackhawks Bikes) and James Edmond (Ferryhill Wheelers) and Vets Kenny Johnson (Team Scott UK), Tony Glover (Derwentside CC) and Richard Noble (Tyne & Wear Fire).

The fast pace saw this group pull clear of other chasing groups. Eventually, the pace proved too fast for the two juniors with Worton dropping behind first and then Edmond. The three leaders continued to exchange the lead throughout. All three were still close together but a final sprint to the line by Glover gave him a narrow win over Johnson and Noble. Edmond held his lead over fellow junior Worton to finish forth.
