Location: Fowlmead County Park, Deal
Event: 15 September 2013
Report: Snowdon Sports

Matt Holmes (Arctic SRAM RT) took his second victory in as many weeks with a late attack in the second round of the London League held at Deal.

The second round was held at Fowlmead County Park in a glorious setting overlooking the English channel.

The fast circuit involved a few wooded sections but was mainly open with a few muddy patches but nothing to slow down competitors too much

Holmes, aged 34 and from Gravesend, was involved in a race long tussle with Gary Record, from Herne Bay and Alex Paton (Team GWB).

Paton was very unfortunate to suffer mechanical issues which cost him his place in the top placings and he fell down the field.

The two leaders battled it out until Holmes came out on top and Record came home to take second.

Moving away from the chasers to claim third spot on the day was 22-year-old Michael Butler from Dover.

After winning the veteran and women’s race John Lyones went on to take seventh place in the senior race.

Claiming top place in the women’s event was Sophia Joy, from Margate and the youth event was won by Tony Martin.
