The Inter-Area Cyclo-Cross Championships saw the West Midlands team take the Senior Men's title, led home by Liam Killeen who was the individual winner, just nicking it on the line from North West's Paul Oldham - another close finish between the pair who are dominating national level racing this winter. Oldham led home the NW team who were second, with East Midlands third.

West Midlands made it a double by taking the senior women's event too, completely dominating the race and claiming the top three individual positions at the finish, with Hannah Payton winning from Bethany Crumpton and Isla Rowntree. London A were second and Western A third.

Yorkshire A and Yorkshire B took the top two team spots in the Veteran Men's race, with Chris Young, Noel Clough and Dan Cook all making the top ten. However, the individual race went to this season's top veteran, Darren Atkins, who out-sprinted Chris Young to claim a narrow win.

The Youth event went down to the wire, with London A just taking it from Yorkshire A, with East Midlands A third. Yorkshire's Billy Harding was the individual winner, ahead of East Midland A's Joe Kirkham and Harry Franklin of London A. Yorkshire had some consolation, taking the Youth Girl's event, with Amira Mellor leading the team home. Western B were second.

West Midlands - Youthful Excellence!

Robin Fox dropped us a line, pointing out the successful West Midlands Senior Men's Team was remarkably youthful. This is what Robin had to say:

The West Midlands team consisted of two first year juniors, both on the junior development program for Cyclo-Cross and Tom Payton, the winner of the U23 Trophy race at Ipswich. It was a tremendous display by the young lads who really stepped up to the plate behind Liam Killeen. This was a really young team who performed exceptionally on behalf of their region. Joe Fox, a first year Junior was 8th overall and the first U23 by a long shot. Tom Payton, an under-23 was 14th and Alex Welburn, another first year junior, was 18th.
