Broome Heath Scramble
Eastern Cyclo-Cross League, Round 11

Round 11 of the Eastern Cyclo-cross league brought competitors to the familiar Broome Heath venue.
In the Senior race, David Nichols was in a class of his own, pulling out a lead of over 40 seconds by the end of nine laps. Shaun Aldous took second after a very close battle with Richard Dunnett, only a couple of seconds separating them at the finish. Ian Newby was the first "Elite" Veteran to finish in 7th place, with Matt Cook in 9th the first Junior.
The Veterans and Women's race was won by over-50 rider Robert Smith, with Richard Jackson, also over-50, second. Anna Buick was the first woman home in an impressive 8th place.
The Youth race saw a remarkable ride by Joshua Hannan, who lapped the entire field. Alan Trolove was a distant second, with Lewis Parker third. Imogen Buick was the first girl finisher in 6th.
A small but keen under-12 field was led home by Tristan Price, with Callum Mackie second. Sophie Holmes was both the first girl and the first under-10 finisher.
