Everyone at British Cycling was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of long standing, top cycle speedway official, Dave Flemming, on Wednesday 12 July.

Dave was a top level cycle speedway referee and and a highly respected administrator for more than half a century. He served on various committees for many years, including the Cycle Speedway Council Executive, as Treasurer, and as Chairman of the British League South East.

More recently, Dave was the Premier/Elite League Competitions Manager for British Cycling. He was awarded the prestigious Wilkinson Sword for services to cycle speedway in 2009. Dave was also a founding member of the Bow and East London Cycle Speedway clubs, and was a prominent official for those clubs throughout his time in the sport.

Our condolences go to Dave's family, friends and everyone in cycle speedway who knew him. RIP Dave.
