Name: Lisa Graham

Job Title: Regional Events Team Manager

Tell us about your commuting rig:
Cube Peloton road bike. White with go fast red stripes – that’s about as technical as it gets!

What’s your commute like?
Six miles door to door, commuting through Manchester city centre. I love cycling past and taking in the views of the city as it starts to wake up to the day ahead.

How many days a week do you commute by bike?
Once to twice a week depending on whether I can drag myself out of bed in the morning.

What do you enjoy the most about bike commuting?
The ‘wacky races’ every evening on the ride home. Holding my breath and going past a fellow commuter at warp speed 10 so they think I’m really fast when in actual fact I’m dying.

What’s your least favourite thing about commuting by bike?
When it’s raining and I forget to put in my contacts. That’s when I wish my glasses had wipers!

What are your main reasons to commute by bike?
It takes me the same amount of time to travel by bike or by car. There’s nothing better than feeling smug as you cycle past the queing traffic and you get to work for free.

Have you got any funny or interesting bike commuting stories or experiences to share?
I once got talked into riding home with our Membership Manager, Terry Greenwood. It turned into a proper 2 up time trial! The man is a machine!!

What’s your killer commuting tip?
Wear as much fluorescent gear as you can get your hands on. The 80’s are back in fashion after all!

How does your British Cycling membership support your bike commuting?
Having support from the same legal team who defend Chris Hoy should an accident happen!!
