Name: Peter Clinch

Workplace: Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, University of Dundee, sometimes out and about doing volunteer Bikeability training

Tell us about your commuting rig: Brompton L3 (that’d be an M3L these days) or a Moulton TSR8 (wee wheels work better in traffic)

What’s your commute like? Usually very easy, less than a mile each way most days but it’s a couple of miles more with some reasonable hills if I have to pop down to the University campus or to a school to do some Bikeability on my day off

How many days a week do you commute by bike? 4 or 5

What do you enjoy the most about bike commuting? Getting about under my own steam, being outside.

What’s your least favourite thing about commuting by bike? Constant cleaning when the salt grit is getting everything seized in winter.

What are your main reasons to commute by bike? There aren’t any particularly good reasons to commute any other way…

Have you got any funny or interesting bike commuting stories or experiences to share? Doing the school run with the kids on the back of a Thorn Me’n’U2 triplet when they were smaller wasn’t funny as such, but it did raise a lot of smiles.

What’s your killer commuting tip? You’ll save yourself some minor back-ache letting the bike take the load rather than cart stuff about in a rucksack

Are you a British Cycling Member? If so how does your British Cycling membership support your bike commuting? I’m a British Cycling Ride member and also a CTC member. BC and CTC are both doing good work to show transport cycling is a Normal thing for Normal people rather than an extreme sport for enthusiasts.
