The 2015 British Cycling MTB Downhill Series reaches its climax at Antur Stiniog in North Wales from 19-20 September, which will see titles decided and a special 'Legends' race to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of 1993 British champion Jason McRoy.

A nail biting finish is expected, with riders battling it out over the steep and rocky descending two-kilometre-long course to claim the title of series champion. Competing in the six round series, over 500 riders, aged from 14 to 50 plus have tested themselves against the best riders from across the UK, and the clock, on the toughest courses Scotland and Wales have to offer.

With 250 points available for the rider that wins both seeding and their race run, the title is still wide open in each category.

For the Schwalbe elite men CRC/Paypal's Joe Smith on 871 points leads the category by a narrow 81 points with 2014 world champion Gee Atherton (GT/Atherton Racing) in second place on 790 points. Mike Jones (also of CRC/Paypal), who came fourth at the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships earlier this month, is 101 points behind Atherton and sitting in third spot with 689 points.

In the Schwalbe elite women's category Madison/Saracen's Manon Carpenter carries a healthy 1,120 points into the final with Rose Bike's Katy Curd trailing on 890 points, some 230 points back. Third place challenger Jessica Greaves (for Saddleback) is currently on 651 points, 239 points off the second spot.

The Spank junior men's top three will be the hardest fought battle with SPS rider Frazer McCubbing, 32 points out in front on 912 points. In second place is Northern Ireland's Orange Dirt World Team rider Jacob Dickinson just 32 points behind on 880. Third place SPS rider Bradley Swinbank is on 808 points, 72 points off the second spot.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the passing of the UK's first downhill star, Jason McRoy, a one-off 'Legends' category race promises to be a major highlight of this weekend’s event. Huge crowds have already secured spectator spots as MTB celebrity Rob Warner and the godfather of UK downhill Steve Peat will lead the thirty-strong category of old-school racers from the 90's, with riders such as Tim Ponting, Matt Farmer, Dave Hemming, Will Longden, Nigel Page, Andrew Titley and Steve Geal also competing.

Practice runs all day on Saturday and Sunday morning until 11:00am, when riders will then take their first timed run of the course for seeding. The main race run will commence at 2:00pm with the top three riders from each of the ten categories being crowned series champions at the end of proceedings.
