The Wheelers League continues to attract a wide range of competitors and clubs and the latest racing was no exception with the Payton family from Stourbridge, best known for their Cyclo-Cross successes, out in force.

Father Kevin Payton, riding for Stourbridge CC, put up some great efforts in the Senior B's, meanwhile son Tom riding for Cult Racing posed a serious challenge in Senior A's as did daughter Hannah now riding for Kinesis in the Youth. And to top all this they were joined by cycling celebrity and former National Cyclo-Cross champion Isla Rowntree riding in the Senior B's also for Stourbridge CC.

As usual the evening started with the Freewheeler events consisting of handicap and Keirin events and concluding with a Devil which, thankfully, the Freewheeler B's are now getting to grips with and produced a closer and thus more exciting race. Ed Adams of Newport took first place in this event with Wheelers Kate Britton, Harry Lewis and Edward Pibworth taking second, third and fourth respectively.

After Scratch, Devil and Sprint heats anticipation started to build towards the Sprint finals and with some justification with the Senior B race producing a very close result - Phil Pearson of VC Revolution first with Jacob Kelly second, William Hyde third and Paul Askey fourth, all of Lichfield City CC. Senior A saw another win for George Moore with Tom Payton second and Jack Hibberd third.

With the variety of entrants increasing each week it was possible to run a ladies only Sprint final which proved a popular choice among competitors and the crowd alike and the promise of more similar events if sufficient female athletes turn out to future evenings. Here Julie Cooper of Lichfield was first, Rebecca Womersley of Aire Valley RT second, Eleanor Jones of VC St Raphael third, Lara Nyman of University of Birmingham fourth, Isla Rowntree fifth and Hannah Payton sixth.

The evening concluded with the Handicap race and back to the traditional 10 km distance but with Youth out at the 5 km sprint. Despite this youth rider Jack Escrit still managed to take the Intermediate Sprint with Senior B riders Will Rudgard (University of Birmingham) and Jacob Kelly close behind in second and third places. Overall winner was Jack Hibberd with George Moore second and Wheeler Adam Lewis third.
