Why you must ride 'Tour of the Peak'! - The Peak District National Park is Britain's most popular National Park, and so popular with thrill-seekers from all disciplines including cycling. Wiggle Tour of the Peak is equally popular, partly because it includes all 3 of the Peak District's trophy climbs - in fact 3 of Britain's most iconic climbs bar none - Cat and Fiddle, Winnats Pass and Holme Moss. The Cat and Fiddle climb is truly one of the most famous cycling climbs in Britain. It’s been visited by Britain’s Top cycle races over many year – the Tour of the Peak cycle race, Milk Race and Tour of Britain to name a few. Rest assured that this climb is famous not so much for its difficulty but because it is an icon of cycling in Britain with its 7 mile alpine-like drag. Its steepness won’t floor you but it does go on to the equally famous pub at the top.
Winnats is one of the most beautiful cycling hill climbs in Britain – although you might not see it quite like that from the saddle if you’ve bitten off a little more than you can chew. It’s steep, (25% in parts) and fairly consistent in its gradient. The cattle grids pretty much define the start and, more precisely, the finish. Do take a glance over both shoulders as you ascend.

Holme Moss is another iconic climb on the international racing scene over the years. The border taking you from Yorkshire to Derbyshire sits at the top of the climb and the foot of the radio transmitter. As you wind your way up (1,800 feet), look out for the markers counting down the distance to the top. Think of them as achievements! The descent is both enjoyable to ride down and also has super views over Woodhead and Kinder Scout in the distance.
