The London Cycle Sportive's route takes in many important landmarks from London’s Olympic history including a unique finish on the 1948 Olympic Velodrome. The event has partnered with Official Charity Access Sport who along with their ambassadors Greg Searle and Rebecca Romero will be encouraging riders to raise money for their charity. Rebecca who will be taking part in the event said: "The children within the communities Access Sport works in really need your support. Help Access Sport to create a genuine legacy by taking part in this ultimate London ride this summer."

"A lap of honour inside the Velodrome... ...will provide a truly memorable finish experience as friends and family will be welcome to come inside to cheer participants on."

With thousands of riders showing enthusiasm for cycling in the capital in legacy events such as Ride London and with huge numbers unable to secure place, the London Cycle Sportive allows everyone to experience that Olympic cycling opportunity. Also for riders who have secured their place, this London Cycle Sportive is the perfect training event.

The ride will start in the picturesque Dulwich Park and finish at the iconic Herne Hill Velodrome, which is the only remaining piece of infrastructure remaining from the 1948 Olympics. Riders will have the rare opportunity to finish the sportive with a lap of honour inside the Velodrome and this will provide a truly memorable finish experience as friends and family will be welcome to come inside to cheer participants on.

The route also takes riders through the stunning Surrey Hills, including Box Hill which featured on the 2012 Olympic road race route.

The London Cycle Sportive offers a choice of three distances, 50km, 100km and 100 miles, which means that there is something to appeal to riders of various abilities.

The short route of 50km heads out to the North Downs offering the riders stunning views over the Kent/Surrey countryside and Biggin Hill, prior to looping back north to rejoin the outward route back to Herne Hill Velodrome. The total climbing on this route is 455 metres and has a maximum elevation of 275 metres.

The medium route of 100km allows rider to climb 812 metres and a maximum elevation of 275 metres. This route also heads out to the North Downs before stretching to the country lanes between Reigate and Dorking, taking in the 2012 Olympic climb at Box Hill.

The long route of 100 miles will bring riders along the same journey as the medium route before continuing north to the North Downs to re-join the medium route on the North Downs Way at Ranmore Common. This route climbs 1098 metres and also has a maximum elevation of 275 metres.

Greg Searle MBE Olympic medalist and Access Sport Ambassador is encouraging people to get on their bikes:

"Challenge yourself and sign up for this year’s London Cycle Sportive in support of Access Sport. Your fundraising will help change the lives of more kids through the power of sport," Greg said. “The fire is burning and we need to fan the flame with charities like Access Sport, which does exactly what it says, giving kids access to sport."

The new London Cycle Sportive will be a great addition to Human Race’s current sportive portfolio which includes the award winning Wiggle Etape Cymru and Wiggle Dragon Ride. These two events were voted No. 1 and No. 2 sportives in 2012 by readers of Road Cycling UK, as well as the UK’s leading series of women only bike rides, Cycletta.
