Multi bike, multi terrain action on and off the Ridgeway

The first CX Sportive from Southern Sportive set riders buzzing back in January! The multi terrain and multi bike format is back this Sunday (June 26th), with Super CX; a full 100km mixed terrain sportive.

Starting from the village of Letcombe Regis just outside Wantage, the route uses the ancient Ridgeway as the backbone of the day's riding, diving on and off of this classic track to take you into the Marlborough and Lambourn Downs.

The course covers a fast variety of surfaces, from tarmac back lanes to semi technical offroad and much in between (the course profiles are broken down into five terrain types on the CX Sportive website). The overall effect is a varied day with something new to tackle around every corner.

The event is open to all types of bike too, from CX and MTB, to 29ers, singlespeeds, hybrids and even more rugged road bikes (although, as the organisers stress, don't bring your carbon fibre pride and joy!) whatever you feel best (or you are brave enough to tackle the course on, your choice of steed will be credited on your ride result. This leads to an interesting ride pattern at a CX Sportive too. Rather than groups settling into their own pace, riders pass and repass one another through he day, as their different types of bikes gain and lose ground on different parts of the course.

The Ridgeway Super CX will feature 100, 60 and 40km options, all fully signed, with support & feed stations, electronic rider timing, hot and cold food and drink, plus free SIS energy drink.

Full details and entry can be found at cxsportive.com.

A full season for next winter is also planned, starting at Salisbury Race Course on November 20th.
