Elite rider Steve Lampier (Node4 Giordana Racing) dominated the feature event of Eagle Road Club’s first meeting of the year at Hog Hill, riding away from the rest of the field to come home a clear winner.

Behind Lampier, Tom Fitzpatrick (Strada Sport) was well on course for second place with an advantage of 30 seconds over a group of six chasers, but he punctured going into the last lap and, with no spare wheel immediately available, he was overhauled – eventually settling for eighth place as Felix Barker (St Ives CC) took the sprint for second.

A total of 139 riders turned out for the three races on a cold day with intermittent heavy showers.

Joshua Gosselin led a one-two for Guernsey Velo in the race for third and fourth categories, attacking at half-distance and going away for a decisive solo victory ahead of clubmate Michael Serafin, who won the opening prime and then himself jumped away from the rest of the field in the closing stages to come home a clear second.

The largest field of the day took to the line for the opening round of the London Women’s Race League which saw winner Maryka Sennema (Kingston Wheelers) and Anna Reid (Zappi Women’s RT) break away midway through in the worst conditions of the day and contest a tight finishing sprint well clear of third-placed Siobhan McNamara (Cambridge CC).
