Wigan teenager Chris Lawless secured victory in round 12 of the UCLAN Criterium League at the Preston Arena this week, the Champion System rider taking the win ahead of Tom Armstrong (Mountivation Development Academy) in the CDNW promotion.

Lawless, 16, held off 17-year-old Armstrong who was finishing second for the second consecutive week. And age prevailed over experience, with 43-year-old Conan Mayman, the winner two weeks previously, settling for third spot in Team Bglobal colours.

The supporting race for third and fourth category riders as well as women was also dominated by youth, with 14-year-old Carlisle youngster Ellis Kirkbride taking the win ahead of 18-year-old Halifax-based Jack Clarkson (Hope Factory Racing).

CS Pendle’s Oliver Payton took victory in the Youth A category, just ahead of team-mate Connor French, while Velocity RT’s Matthew Walls won the Youth B category.

CS Pendle were also celebrating a win in the Youth C group thanks to Nathan Hawthorn, while Bolton Hot Wheels rider Adam Hathaway was the Youth D winner. Finally, James Higham (H Middleton CC) won the Youth E race.
