Women racers looking to enter the inaugural Curlew Cup National Women’s Road Series are being reminded that there is less than two weeks to get their entries in.

Entries for the 1 July race close on 10 June and there is an impressive prize list with a total cash prize pot of more than £1,800 including a points competition sponsored by Saddle Skedaddle and an under-23s competition sponsored by Padon Contracts. The top 18 placed riders will also receive prizes.

Already the race, which is sponsored by Northumberland National Park, has attracted some top UK riders, with Matrix Fitness – Prendas and Team Hope Factory Racing both entering full teams. Entry forms can be downloaded from British Cycling website or directly from the event website.

The Curlew Cup is open to Elite, Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 riders and follows on from the success of the men’s and women’s National Championships races.

The Curlew Cup is part of the Northern Rock Cyclone weekend, which will run from Thursday 28 June to Sunday 1 July 2012. It is one of the UK’s biggest weekends of cycling and is set to attract even more people in 2012 as it continues to expand. As well as the Curlew Cup, for 2012 there is also a new Tyne Six Bridges ride aimed at beginners and families to kick off the weekend on Thursday 28 June.

The Curlew Cup takes place on the morning of Sunday 1 July. In the afternoon it is the turn of the elite men with the 60th edition of the Beaumont Trophy. Part of British Cycling’s elite level Premier Calendar series, the race will attract the cream of British as well as European riders. Rider entries for the Beaumont Trophy also close on 10 June.
