Node4-Giordana Racing’s Marcin Bialoblocki tops the 2012 National Male Elite Road and Track rankings in the early season on 197 points with former Motorpoint teammate Jonathan McEvoy of Endura Racing just behind on 182 and Team Corley Cycles/Blue‘s Matthew Jones third on 167.
Currently overall leader in the Premier Calendar, McEvoy’s fine performance at the Tour Doon Hame - finishing first in the third and final stage to take the overall win – earned him 154 points in total. With his efforts on the continent in the Tour of Normandie and more recently a third place in the Tour du Finistère not eligible for national ranking points, he misses out on top spot.
In contrast to McEvoy, Bialoblocki only registered 19 points at Doon Hame, but his sixth place at the Maldon Dengie Tour came on the back of some strong early season form. A win in March’s 40th Severn Bridge Road Race along with runner-up spots at the Perf's Pedal Race and the 30th Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race helped put some early points on the board.
Two impressive wins in the Wally Gimber Trophy and Omega Thruxton Circuits were the key to third-place Matthew Jones’ position, the 22-year-old supplementing the wins with second-place behind Bialoblocki at the Severn Bridge Road Race in addition to another near-miss at Glade CC Spring Road Race.

Ahead of the National Women’s Road Race Series opener, the Cheshire Classic, Miriam Freemantle (Team Hope Factory Racing) sits at the top of the pack with 70 points, followed by Look Mum No Hands’ Lydia Boylan (57 points) and 1st Chard Wheels’ Wiebke Rietz (43 points).
Two Springtime Pursuit Race podiums - first then third – earned the bulk of Freemantle’s points, complemented with second at the Chard Wheelers Spring Circuit Race. Second-place Boylan has enjoyed a consistent run, winning four out of five races including victory at Eagle Road Club Spring Circuit Races and two regional C+ Spring Open Omnium Meeting’s at Herne Hill.
Third-place Wiebke Rietz hasn’t enjoyed quite the same reliability in her form but a string of top tens accumulating in third at the Cornish Series Race 1 have laid down a solid foundation to build upon.

Node4 - Giordana Racing are the only team to pass the 1000 points mark, nearly 400 points clear of Cycle Premier-Kovert with Team IG-Sigma Sport third. A consistency across the team’s riders – Marcin Bialoblocki, Kieran Frend, Matt Cronshaw, Matthew Higgins and James Moss all have 150+ points in their respective categories – had aided the West Midland team’s cause.
First category rider Stephen Adam’s (180 points) leads the charge for Cycle Premier, backed up in the main by Jamie Caldwell and Jake Martin whilst for Team IG-Sigma Sport Wouter Sybrandy and Andrew Griffiths have collectively scored 294 of the team’s 681 total.
Metaltek-Scott hold forth position with Endura, without the points from some impressive efforts in the UCI EuropeTour, sit in fifth.
