Great Season for Horizon Fitness Prendas Ciclismo

After a stand out season, the management team behind the Horizon Fitness–Prendas Ciclismo racing team is happy to confirm the team will continue in 2012.

“We’ve had an amazing year. With Dani King taking a world title at the beginning of the season, and the team retaining the national team pursuit title at the end, it’s been great from start to finish” commented Team Manager, Stefan Wyman.

Many of the superb performances aren’t necessarily those that resulted in a win, but are those that have been noticed by the team as the riders develop. “Penny, Annie and Hannah have been three huge successes this year and we’re really pleased they’ll be staying with us for our 3rd season. Part of our goal is to provide a stable base for our riders, and I think the fact that we are retaining such talent demonstrates this” continued Wyman.

“We’ve secured title partnership for 2012 and we know what a key year this will be in the careers of our riders. It will be a once in a lifetime chance to compete in a home Olympics, so we’re going to make sure we back them as much as we possibly can. We’ve had a great road programme this year, and we’re going to look to develop that even further over the next 12 months” added Sports Director, Jamie Burrow.

“Having Hanka Kupfernagel race with us during the season was fantastic, and the feedback she has given to our riders is priceless. It’s such an advantage for the younger members of the team to have ridden with a true legend of the sport, and someone so willing to invest in their development. “We’re still in discussions with several potential partners for 2012 as we look to expand our operation. The women’s cycling market is a pretty exciting place to be right now, and cycling in the UK seems to be going from strength to strength” Burrow continued.

Victories and podium places have come the way of the team in major events including Tour Krasna Lipa, The Tour Series, National Road and Criterium Championships, 2 Days of Bedford, and the National Track Championships. Hannah Rich also added the Welsh Road Race and Criterium titles to her list of achievements.

“We really feel 2012 will be anther progressive year where we can challenge both at home and abroad. We’ll have a pretty big UK programme as more events are added to the calendar. Races like the new Curlew Cup will add more top end focus to our UK calendar, and we hope to be invited back to events such as Thuringen in Germany” concluded Wyman.

News of the rider line-up will be issued soon as the team continues to negotiate with potential riders for 2012.
