Preview: Totnes Town Centre Races

Event Date: Monday 30 May

Promoting club Mid Devon Cycling Club is again hosting the annual Totnes Town Centre Races this coming bank holiday monday the 30th of May. Local sponsors Arbow Garage, China Blue, Kitson Hutchings soliciters and The Royal Seven Stars Hotel all in Totnes are all getting involved to make this an exciting day's racing.

With one young youth rider coming from as far as Canada for the spectacle this is possibly now turning into an international event. The youth event is a part of the south west youth series, the competition for youth riders which accrues points in every race adding up through the season to find an eventual overall winner.

The senior events are split into two different categories of race:

The first senior race of at 1030 will involve the third and fourth category riders. Amongst the riders are in form Geoff Ripley, fresh from winning a 100 rider bunch sprint at Castle Coombe near Bristol and a strong contingent from the promoting club MDCC which includes club chairman Andrew Perkins , Phillip Owen and in form Daniel Dolan.

The elites, first and second category riders are off at 1345 hrs. The elite team Felt Colbournes , who are also guest riding this years tour series are sending a four man team to the race, local lad Darren Moore now riding for the Elite Pendragon team will also be riding. Also trying his hand at Criterium racing will be the national under 23 cyclo cross champion Luke Gray of Hargroves cycles. With last years winner elite rider Marcin Bialobloki absent this year it promises to be a very open event.
