Event: April 13, 2010; British Cycling West Thames/Prime Coaching Circuits
Thanks to Mark Doel, Central Regional Events Officer

The second week of the Hillingdon Tuesday night circuit series in West London saw the biggest number of entries ever racing at the popular cycle racing circuit. At this time of the year with the evenings getting ever lighter, Hillingdon was blessed with a bright evening for the racing after a lovely sunny day in the nation’s capital. Bright it may have been but a very cold wind blew straight into the rider's faces down the finish straight which is always a sign of a tough race ahead.

The Elite/1/23 race saw no less than 104 riders line up at the start whilst in the 4th category only event, a further 56 riders were ready to race.

With so many riders racing, it took a few laps to settle down but it was not long before the E/1/2/3 race caught and lapped the 4th event where unfortunately there was a coming together of riders and a few came down. After this mishap, a group of four riders went clear, Marcel Six of Orbea For Goodness Shakes, Daniel Santoni of Pearson Cycles, Hillingdon Winter Series winner Jerone Walters of Sigma Sport-Specialized and Angus Macalister of Norwood Paragon. They were soon joined by former World Silver medallist (Scratch race) Tony Gibb (www. Cycle Premier-Metalek).

This quintet worked well together and in the strong wind, soon built-up a strong lead which was never going to be challenged by the massive bunch. In the sprint for the line, unsurprisingly, Tony Gibb beat Marcel Six with Daniel Santoni taking 3rd.

In the 4th category event, youth A category rider Tao Geoghegan-Hart (Cycle Club Hackney) took the honours from Steve Bell (London Phoenix) with another youth rider, the Talent Team Development member Dan Maslin (Hillingdon Slipstreamers) in 3rd. A mention as well for another youth Talent Team rider and first female,  Natalie Hill (Hillingdon Slipstreamers) who finished 14th in the bunch sprint.

The Youth Race saw a large entry of 40 riders. Results to follow.
