Trail Break South Downs Way, MaXx Exposure & Weekend Breaks

Posted: 28th February 2011

Big multi-day rides for Spring, Summer & Autumn

Booking is open for Trail Break's South Downs endurance double, the South Downs Way Lemming and MaXx Exposure. Both events take place in September, the South Downs Way over two days on 3-4th, and the MaXx overnight on September 24th. They also have news of some guided weekend breaks in Wales and the Peaks too.

MaXx Exposure

MaXx Exposure is an epic night enduro, covering 80 miles and 9100ft of vertical along the South Downs Way. Starting from Beachy Head, ride into the sunset and through the night, all the way to the finish Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield. Support stations manned by local shops and event partners will sustain and encourage you along the way, and a slap up finishers breakfast will revive you at the end!

Exposure Lights are once more partnering the event, and light hire will be available if you want to try out there latest and greatest, or just need enough lighting power to see you through the event. If the full 80 miles is too big a bite, there are 40 and 20 mile loops from QE Country Park too.

South Downs Way

The South Downs Way Lemming gives you the chance to ride this classic trail by day. Riding west to east, there's a choice of 100 mile and 80 mile options, starting on Saturday morning and finishing at Beachy Head on Sunday.
First run in 1996, this event blurs the lines between a full on enduro and an MTB weekend break. The two day format gives it a an extra dimension, taking you away for a full weekend of riding, and the overnight camping and hostel stop at Truleigh Hill is welcome and sociable break from the challenge of the trail.

A fully featured support package completes the event, including luggage transportation, feed and support stations, evening meal and breakfast, plus return transport and packed lunch options.

Weekend Breaks

If a pure weekend break is just what you're after though, Trail Break are running a couple of guided mountain biking weekends earlier in the year.

Weekend Breaks were amongst the first events that Trail Break ran back in the early 1990s, and the format has remained popular throughout that time. The team will take you around two days of the best riding in one of the UK's MTB hotspots, fully guided and supported; all you need to do is enjoy the ride!

The weekends are true mountain biking, taking you to the big hills of Mid Wales on March 25-27th and the Peak District on August 5-7th. The terrain will be properly testing, although the breaks are designed to cater for mixed ability groups to help you get to enjoy the level of riding you want.

After a hard days riding, you'll want to relax and end enjoy a good evening, so the off the bike bits of your weekend are given just as much importance as the rides. You'll be well fed and looked after by the team in a friendly and social atmosphere.
