Once again the sun shone at Misterton Hall as 52 youngsters participated in the British Cycling Go-Ride Racing experience promoted by Welland Valley CC - Whizz Kids, the first of two promotions this year.

Stage 1 was a ‘blast of energy' as each competitor completed a 600m technical time-trial on the tarmac.

Stage 2 was the complete opposite as the racers faced an excellent challenging multi terrain circuit. Each rider was instructed to pace themselves around the two kilometre lap and let the energy 'trickle out'.

Edward Hopkins dominated the Under 8's race and rode strongly to win overall. In the Under 10's race Jamie Lydall beat Louis Jakobson after a titanic battle. The Under 12's race was won by the improved Oliver Haines wining from Holly Barnett, Fraser Ayears and Fynn Batkin.

Jack Batkin won the combined Under 16's and 14's race beating Ria and Jade Mobbs.

The first 3 boys and girls in each race received medals and all of the participants won a drinking bottle supplied by British Cycling.
