28 March 2024

Throughout 2024 we will once again shine a spotlight on the brilliant effort volunteers make for all forms of cycling. We want to acknowledge the huge contribution volunteers make to cycling and recognise the wide variety of roles undertaken to activate, support, lead, and deliver at all levels.

Each month, we are taking nominations from across the regions and home nations. If you think someone deserves a mention, get in touch on social media, with your respective regional or national teams or via @BCLearningHub on X, formally known as Twitter.

This month we have a range of roles being featured, a Breeze Champion and an Event Organiser.

Name: Jules Herriott

Region: Central

Role: Breeze Champion

Jules trained as a Breeze Champion in 2017 after the champions she cycled with encouraged her to attend a course. She didn’t hesitate to attend a course and throughout her time as a champion she has made some great friends and met many wonderful ladies.

Jules loves to inspire others to get on their bikes for fitness and fun and says that the ladies she has met have encouraged her to run, swim and complete many other activities. Jules says that she has discovered lots of new coffee shops and cycle routes in her local area and continues to enjoy getting out on her bike.

Some of the riders who have attended Jules Breeze rides have this to say about her. Janet says: “Jules’ support, motivation, humour and commitment has been invaluable to our group of local Breeze ladies who have chosen to get on their bikes in later life”. Lucy says: “Jules is a lovely cycling leader. I felt comfortable with her immediately which was reassuring when I’d not cycled for years. She is organised, kind, friendly, motivating, patient, inclusive and good fun!”

Well done to Jules Herriott for being this months Volunteer in Focus for the Central region.
