British Cycling can today provide an update on the 2021 HSBC UK | National Road Series.

Due to local factors and the ongoing challenges associated with Covid-19, we regret to announce that the HSBC UK | National Circuit Series rounds in Sheffield (14 July), Colne (20 July) and the Midlands (30 July) have sadly been cancelled.

At this stage we still hope that the rounds set to take place in Otley (30 June) and Barnsley (9 July) will proceed as planned, and we are investigating the possibility of adding a new round into both the men’s and women’s series.

In addition to this, Round 8 of the HSBC UK | National Road Series, which was due to take place in the South of England, will also no longer take place.

We hope to make an announcement on the 2021 HSBC UK | National Road Championships in the coming weeks, however we can now confirm that the event will be moved from its current position in the calendar (24-27 June) to later in the year.

British Cycling’s Head of Sport and Major Events, Jonathan Day, said:

“While we have been really encouraged by the appetite for racing since the resumption of activities on 29 March, it is sadly clear that difficulties remain in securing the necessary local permissions required for hosting larger scale events.

“We are incredibly thankful for the efforts of all of our event organisers and look forward to welcoming those which have sadly been cancelled today back onto the calendar in 2022. The team is also continuing to support those organisers whose events remain on the calendar, and after a challenging 12 months we’re excited to get things underway at the Women’s CiCLE Classic on 27 June.”
