Dame Sarah Storey has been recognised for her fantastic four world titles in 2019 with a nomination in the Disability Sportswoman of the Year category at the prestigious Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year awards.

Storey has been shortlisted along with Claire Cashmore (triathlon), Charlotte Henshaw (canoeing) and Alice Tai (swimming) for the award, with the winner set to be revealed on November 21.

Storey has enjoyed another exceptional year, winning two gold medals apiece at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the UCI Road World Championships this year.

In March, Storey claimed rainbow jerseys in the WC5 individual pursuit and scratch races in Apeldoorn, while also picking up a silver medal in the 500m time trial. She followed that up on the road in Emmen in September, winning the WC5 road race and time trial – the seventh time she has done that double.

Those titles took her career tally up to an astonishing total of 35.

Of her nomination, Storey said:

“To be nominated is a genuinely unexpected honour, as there have been some stand-out women in British parasport again this year. I’m obviously delighted to be named alongside the likes of Claire, Charlotte and Alice. I won the schoolgirl award at this awards back in 1992 so have many fond memories of the event.”
