The British Cycling Women’s Road Series visits Yorkshire on Wednesday for the third edition of the Pinsent Mason Women’s Otley Grand Prix women’s race.
Part of a packed night of racing that will also see the opening round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series the town-centre criterium is the fifth round of the British Cycling Women’s Road Series.
Newly crowned British road champion Lizzie Armitstead was a popular hometown winner last year but is set to be absent as she focuses on her build up to Giro Rosa in Italy.
Coming just three days after the British Cycling National Road Championships, Nicola Juniper and Charline Joiner are set to renew their battle at the top of the standings.
Both performed well in Lincoln with Team WNT’s Joiner 18th with Team Giordana-Trito’s Juniper 24th. Fifth for Juniper at the Curlew Cup extended her lead to 23 points.
Dame Sarah Storey already has a win to her name in the series after a solo charge at the Cheshire Classic and was typically active in Sunday’s championships, driving the peloton in the early stages of the race.
Twenty-year-old Jessie Walker took a fine 11th on the Lincoln cobbles, at the time of writing she is one of two Matrix Fitness riders set to start, Penny Rowson the other.
Rider will complete 11 laps of the 2.25-kilometre circuit. Each lap sees a climb up Burras Lane before crossing over Birdcage Walk and then a downhill return to the town centre and finish.
