Location: Goldings, Hertfordshire

Check out this rather amusing route teaser for the Ellis' 50 Miler and find out more as preparations continue ahead of 5 May Hertfordshire event.

Despite the cold weather gripping the country and the freezing headwinds along the training routes, numbers are still rising for the Ellis 50 Miler in May. Digging through the snow in Hertford, the organisers of the ride have uncovered a goldmine of cycling fans in the area. A trip to the local coffee shops on a Sunday morning will involve queuing behind pairs of shivering winter bib tights, all signed up for the ride.

Sponsors are also on board, including one offering an overnight stay at the luxurious Rigsby’s Guesthouse in Hertford. The prize will go to the 250th entrant to the event scheduled for the 5th May.

Once signed up, riders will be taking on 50 miles through countryside including the picturesque market towns and villages of Hertfordshire. However it’s not all freewheeling in the sun, somewhere along the route is a surprise timed hill. The challenge of the 1 TIMED HILL / Clarky Climb gives riders a chance to test themselves with another sponsor offering a £200 prize to spend in Highway Cycles, for the rider showing the most Pace, Passion and Panache on their way up.

With food stops stocked, goody bags filled and a selection of local businesses, food stalls and face painters booked for the finish village, all that’s missing is your entry. So sign up now and you may find yourself winning a prize before you’ve even slipped into those bib tights…. Enter Today!
