Andrea Pinarello, son of the Pinarello bicycle manufacturer founder Giovanni, has passed away at the age of 40.

Pinarello suffered a heart attack after competing in an amateur bike race in Italy. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The Pinarello family has close links to British Cycling, having supplied both the Great Britain Cycling Team and Team Sky.

British Cycling would like to pass on its condolences to Pinarello's family and friends.
