The final day of the 2021 National Youth and Junior Track Championships was met with great excitement as riders battled it out in the last few races to win those final national titles.

Unfortunately, it was a day featuring several crashes, including a four rider pile-up in the women’s under 16s points race heats – resulting in one of the few red flags of competition. Thankfully all riders were able to ride on after the red flag was lifted and continued to compete into the final.

Isabel Sharp took gold and the national stripes, followed by Cat Ferguson in second and Awen Roberts in third.

Next up the men’s under 16s 2km Pursuit saw Harry Codd crowned victorious, with Joshua Jackson taking second and Finlay Tarling taking a podium position in third.

In the women’s junior keirin, Iona Moir took first place, Kirsty Johnson in second and Emma Jeffers in third.

The last race of the day was the men’s junior scratch race which saw a smooth, exciting race from all riders to round off the week. Josh Charlton won gold, with Joshua Giddings taking silver and Joshua Tarling taking bronze.

With that, the National Youth and Junior Track Championships came to an end and Glasgow certainly delivered!

Massive thanks to Ben and the team at Glasgow 2021 for organising such a well organised and smoothly run, keeping riders safe and focussed on the competition.
