Torfaen Leisure Trust will host it's first cycling festival on the 7th August at the Cwmbran stadium near Newport for people to find out more about what cycling has to offer and for young people to try elements of the sport on display at the Olympic games.
Torfaen Sport Development, Cwmcarn Paragon, Gwent Police and Welsh Cycling have worked together to provide this opportunity for local people to come and try cycling at Cwmbran Stadium for FREE
Sessions on offer include:
Childrens Cycling sessions
- Balance Bikes for 2-5year olds & Learn to Ride for 4- 5year olds
(Children must be supported by 1 parent or carer only.)
- 1st Pedals for 4-7 year olds (Riders must bring own helmet)
- Bike Skills and fun races for Youth riders provided by Cwmcarn Paragon's Youth section.
This session is aimed at children bike confident and not on stabilisers 4 years - 14 years
Riders will enjoy more advanced coaching from Cwmcarn Paragon club coaches. The sessions will look at working on bike control, brake at different speeds, how to start and stop and have fun riding around a obstacle course focusing ass well as being able to chat to club coaches to find out more what the club has to offer.
Breeze
Celebrating its 10th birthday earlier in 2021, Breeze is British Cycling's network aimed at getting women into cycling. What is Breeze? Breeze is the biggest ever programme to encourage women to ride bikes for fun. The aim is to help more women feel confident and comfortable about going out cycling and you can book onto a session leaving the Cwmbran Stadium on the 7th August.
Disability Bikes
This session will give people with a disability the opportunity to come and try a number adapted bikes, ranging from tandems, two seater side by side cycle, wheelchair transporter bike, adult trike, junior trike. People attending the session will be given the opportunity to try a number of bikes and manoeuvre around a short course.

Gwent Police Smartwatering Bikes
SmartWater SmartTraceTM is a transparent liquid which contains a unique forensic code. Once applied to possessions, such as bikes, an irrefutable link to the owner is made in the event of theft.
These sessions are FREE OF CHARGE and are only possible due to the funding achieved by our partners but you do need to book in advnace due to COVID restrictions.
