The HSBC UK National Cycling Centre houses what was Britain's first indoor Olympic cycling track, and since it opened in 1994, has become one of the world's finest and fastest board tracks.

The track is in constant use seven days a week and, thanks to the comprehensive programme of activities for all levels of ability, it is one of the busiest in the world.

From elite athletes to novices, the track offers sessions to anyone seeking to experience this exciting sport. Regular users of the track include members of the very successful Great Britain Cycling Team such as Jason and Laura Kenny, Katie Archibald and Jody Cundy, as well as local schoolchildren and track enthusiasts.

In July 2011, the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre was expanded significantly with the launch of a new, £24million purpose-built indoor BMX complex. It houses the UK’s only permanent indoor BMX track with seating for two thousand fans.

The venue’s mountain bike trails run through Clayton Vale, a green space through the Medlock River Valley Corridor. The trails are 12km in length and comprise of four different skill levels ranging from easy to expert. The HSBC UK National Cycling Centre is the trail head for this route.

There is also a mountain bike and BMX Skills Zone featuring a pump track and plenty of technical trail features.
