Event: Richardson's Rumble - 4 Counties Challenge
Event Date: Sunday 26th July
The Richardson's Rumble Sportive is set to prove that Cambridgeshire is not as flat as most people think. Wheels in Wheels CC, organisers of the Forest of Dean Classic sportive, are pleased to announce a new sportive for Cambridgeshire taking in the best and hilliest roads in the region.
Based in the picturesque town of St Ives and taking place on Sunday 26th July, this 100 miler will test riders' legs and prove that Cambridgeshire and the adjacent counties are not as flat as the most people think.
Richardson's Cycles sponsor this tough event and the route passes four of their shops. The route goes north to Stamford and across to Corby where the Richardson's shops will act as feed stops supplied by High5 to keep the riders well nourished. The route continues to roll up and down for nearly all of the 100miles+ and the rest is even steeper, and shouldn't be taken too lightly as this is a good test of anyone's fitness.
The ride will be fully signed and have a back up vehicle and optional timing available. Each rider will have bike and personal numbers for identification and the event photographer. Event sponsors have supplied a very generous goody bag worth over £15, plus post-ride food.
There is also a 10 mile family ride which will be around the St Ives area and will take in the cycleways through the nearby villages. Cambridge is also only 16 miles down the road for even more sightseeing and shopping.
The start and finish for all rides will be outside the St Ives Richardson's shop and is only 70 miles from London, Leicester and Coventry and only 100 miles from Birmingham and Norwich areas.
The entry fee includes a charity donation to the Wheels in Wheels CC 2009 charity, the Geoff Thomas Foundation. Entries are restricted to 400 so early entry is advised. For more information on the Richardson's Rumble and to enter on-line please visit www.wheelsinwheelscc.com
