Shop2Shop Torture

Date: 26 July 2009

Welcome to the first sportive based on the very picturesque town of St Ives, home of Oliver Cromwell, a master of torture in his day.

sponsor this tough event taking in visits to 4 of their shops on the big ride plus a family ride to their Histon shop near Cambridge.

This 100 miler will test the rider's legs as you will find that Cambridgeshire and the adjacent Counties are not as flat as the most people think.

The route goes north to Stamford and across to Corby where the Richardson's Shops will act as feed stops supplied by High5 to keep the riders well nourished. The route continues to roll up and down for nearly all of the 100miles+ and the rest is even steeper, and shouldn't be taken too lightly as this is a good test of anyone's fitness.

The family ride is planned to follow the new guided bus route from St Ives to Histon and back, a nice traffic free day out with drinks available at the Richardson's shop in Histon.

The ride will be fully signed and have a back up vehicle and optional timing available. Each rider will have bike and personal numbers for identification and the event photographer. Our sponsors have supplied a very generous goody bag worth over 15GBP, plus after ride food.

The start and finish will be outside the local St Ives Richardson's shop and is only 70 miles from London, Leicester and Coventry and only 100miles from Birmingham and Norwich areas.

Entries are restricted to 500 for the first year and early entry is advised. The town will welcome all visitors and is a perfect day out by the river for all the family. Cambridge is also only 16 miles down the road for even more sightseeing and shopping torture.

A contribution will go to the Wheels in Wheels CC 2009 charity the Geoff Thomas Foundation supporting people tackling cancer.
